Day 1
Arrival at Catania airport and pick-up of car rental at Catania airport. Transfer with your car to the 4* Hotel Una Palace in Catania (or similar). Check-in and accommodation in double room in B&B basis. Rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2
In the morning transfer with your car to the meeting point with your private guide to start the tour of the old fishing villages.
History meets myth in the places of the Cyclops, and you will begin the tour with a walk in Acitrezza, an ancient fishing village founded at the end of the seventeenth century. From the promenade you can admire the landscape, dominated by the Faraglioni, eight basaltic rocks which, according to legend, were thrown into the sea by Polyphemus to hit Odysseus escaping.
The tour continues in Aci Castello, an ancient fishing village dominated by a basalt cliff on which is perched the Norman castle, which was built in 1076 using lava stone.
The castle currently houses the Museo Civico, consisting of three sections: mineralogy, paleontology and archeology. We will also visit the main Church with frescoes by Pietro Paolo Vasta.
Day 3
In the morning transfer with your car to Etna and meeting point with your private guide to start a trekking experience.
Fascinating trekking where you can understand the destructive power of the Mount Etna.
In fact, you will start from“PianoProvenzana”, whose buildings were totally rebuilt after the 2002 eruption. Following the path to the crater summit, you will then walk one hour to arrive at the 2002 craters. Here, you’ll admire “Monte Nero”and itsgorgeous desert of lava stone.
You’ll finish our excursion with a nice picnic at the “Timparossa Refuge”.
In the afternoon transfer with your car to Bronte and meeting with your private guide.
The town of Bronte is known as the birthplace of pistachio, and it’s a shame to leave Sicily without a stop in this rural area, that features a lava landscape on which lush pistachio trees take root.
A visit to a farm will allow you to discern the stages of the processing of this product, whose nickname is “green gold”.
You will enjoy the excellent products made with pistachio: creams, cakes, nougats, pesto, spirits and more. At the end of the tour enjoy the Castle of Lord Nelson.
